A fantastic stay, very nice room and great breakfast service

We had our wedding reception and evening at the Manor House Hotel. Couldn’t fault a thing. The food was fantastic for both the wedding lunch and the evening buffet.

Stayed before and it did not disappoint this time. Comfortable homely yet spacious feel. Excellent customer service. Lovely owners. Relaxing environment in lovely building.

The hotel was charming and the staff are welcoming. The rooms were spacious and the beds were so comfortable after a day on the hills. So many bars and restaurants on the high street to choose from if you didn't want to stay in.Lit up at night the outside of the hotel is beautiful.The staff have great knowledge to share about local walks and bus routes. Well worth tapping into.

We had a great time and the cottage was amazing as always, the food in the hotel restaurant was delicious and staff are always welcoming and professional, highly recommended both the hotel and the cottage. We have booked again and look forward to seeing you soon.

I was visiting friends who couldn't put me up but the Manor House was the perfect place to stay. I had a single room with bathroom on the top floor which had everything I needed and was very clean and comfortable. The skylight window was fine, given that I was out all day and most of the evening. The access is a slight concern given the steep and narrow staircase - I would worry about escape in the event of a fire. The breakfast was ideal for someone who doesn't eat a cooked breakfast (muesli, fruit salad, yoghurt, warmed croissant...) and all the staff I met were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect - right in the town centre but with plenty of parking. I would certainly consider returning here.

Hotel is conveniently placed in Cockermouth with easy access to amenities and walks. The food was all excellent and worth trying. The room was pleasant with good views, too hot for my liking (rare England summer day) but we managed to ventilate it and cool down.

This is one of those places I do not want to share and keep it secret but I felt so at home,well serviced and so much clever detail it must be reviewed for the lovely place and owners staff comfort and setting

This place is a proper little gem and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The owner was lovely to talk to, very helpful and informative about the beautiful buildi g that is their hotel. The place is full of character and I loved it! The bar and lounge area were very relaxing. Thoroughly enjoyed the Shipyard IPA. The dining room was spacious and a nice setting to eat. I ate 2 courses from their midweek menu (spring rolls to start and lamb medallions for main) and was both plentiful and very satisfying. The young man serving was excellent and very attentive and polite. He chose his moments to ask if things were OK, which was very much appreciated. Stayed in a single room and was lovely. Spacious en suite. Bed was very comfortable! Only downfall for me was no window; just a skylight. The weather overnight was atrocious and bounced off the skylight, keeping me awake throughout the night, unfortunately. Breakfast the next morning was brilliant. Lots of options and another attentive server. Really tasty and filling cooked breakfast and the green tea option was appreciated, too. Check in amd check out seemless. Parking was great. Loved this place and will absolutely be back, but fir a couple of nights next time and hopefully no skylight🤣 Thank you Manor House Hotel.

There is always a warm welcome at The Manor House and I have stayed many times over the years. Apart from its excellent location in the town it offers a quiet and secluded atmosphere with ample parking and attractive rooms. The staff are all friendly and professional.

Our second stay at the Manor House.Very central hotel with a short walk to all shops and pubs.All the staff were very friendly and the room allocated was spacious and very comfortable with everything you need.The breakfast was again exceptional with a good choice. I will certainly be back for another stay as Cockermouth is a lovely place.

A great little stay with friendly staff who are always happy to help. Fantastic location too in the middle of Cockermouth. I travelled for a wedding and I’m glad I stayed here rather than a chain so I could explore the town during my stay too.

Very welcoming and friendly staff room was nice and the breakfast was amazing wish we could have stayed longer but was just great to have a nice ride out on motorcycle with the wife and a lovely relaxed evening thanks again

We’ve been visiting The Manor House for over 20 years.It is a wonderful family run place. Kind caring staff with a fabulous location and parking. Above all else the food is to die for, Ed is a superb chef!

Most everything here I would compliment, the staff were lovely and so helpful, the breakfast was great and the evening meal in the restaurant was fabulous, the hotel itself was tastefully decorated and a nice location, I do have only one negative, that's the bedroom or more specifically the bed. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep on it, there was Topper on itthat was diagonal to the bed so we had a job Straightening it up. But even then the bed was so uncomfortable we had bad backs in the morning.

My friend and me were booked into the Beaulieu Cottage for the week and it didn't disappoint.Clean, spacious, well equipped, the large table in the sitting room particularly become very useful!We very much enjoyed breakfast in the hotel each morning (the specially ordered bacon sandwiches were delicious & very much appreciated) and 2 evening meals. The food is outstanding and fully deserves the local reputation of where to eat in the evening. So much so, we recommend you book to ensure you have a table.With many thanks to all the staff who were friendly and were willing to answer any questions to ensure we had a great time.Will hope to stay again.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Manor House.The staff were all friendly and helpful.The evening meal was super and the wine was good value.The breakfast was excellent, the quality of the ingredients shone through.The hotel was spotlessly clean.The room was a little cramped - but we knew that when we booked it.When we come back we will try to book earlier so we get a standard room.We have told all our friends about how good the hotel is.

A very warm and friendly welcome from everyone from the lovely owners to the bar and dining room staff.We have now been back several times, and would choose this hotel over all the others in the surrounding area. Wonderful value for money with superb cooking from the very talented chef, the owner! 10/10 Manor House every time.

The hotel has a great Georgian appearance with its own private car park in front.The interior is clean, tidy and well maintained.Our room was spacious and with a good size bathroom,including a bath and shower, which after Climbing in the fell and mountains all day felt just right having a hot bath / long soke.We went for a meal in the restaurant in which all three of us had different courses from the menu.All three of us gave our meals 10 out of 10!The Chef needs a mention, as I rarely feel that meals I have had across the uk deserve a 10 score.suberb food.Finally, the location of the hotel is in a good spot also, a few minutes off the high street.

Your hotel was excellent value for money, for our 1 night stay, all facilities provided were excellent ( breakfast - one of the best I've had in any hotel I've stayed in ) & covered everything that's important to us in a hotel - restaurant,bar,car parking, cleanliness. The members of staff were helpful & very polite. The location of the hotel is perfect, for walking around the village of cockermouth. Lovely and relaxed place to stay, central location for exploring the areaStaff were very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast/evening meal was delicious.Only small critic was the room we stayed in was a bit dated but it was clean and comfortable.

Accommodation probably a 3 star, clean, comfortable bed, good size standard room, excellent breakfast, large car park for smallish hotel.

I have no idea why this is only a 3 star. Immaculate, welcoming helpful. Food was fantastic. Massive breakfast, bar was reasonably priced for a hotel. Room was comfortable.

Another lovely couple of days at The Manor House. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay 'home from home'while we visited friends in Cumbria. As always the breakfasts and dinner we enjoyed was excellent, the bar service was warm and friendly. We would like to say a big thankyou to all the staff who once again made our stay so enjoyable, and we look forward to staying with you all again on our next visit to Cockermouth.

Stopped in the delightful little cottage, 2 couples for a near by wedding. Plenty of space, spotless, and the staff at Manor House were so friendly and accommodating. Had breakfast in the hotel which was delicious. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again

We attended a wedding nearby on the Saturday at 1pm & was told our room wouldn’t be available until 4 but when we arrived at 12 it was already for us which was a great help.The staff & breakfast was faultless.Many thanks for a great stay.

Greeted by very friendly staff, room nice and clean, food was delicious nothing was to much trouble. Owner was very nice and made us feel very welcome, definitely need to try their signature cocktail, this time it was called a Drunken Duck served in a bath was definitely something different. Would certainly stay again.

We arrived 0n Friday 7th June 2024 and we're met in Reception by the young man on duty , who explained everything about what would happen during our stay with regard to our room , key card and meals . We decided to have dinner that night which was very good and my Mushroom Ristotto was define . Next morning we had Breakfast which we both thought was well prepared and on theother mornings we had one also the Staff could not do enough for us . Thankyou . We both Thank-you for such a pleasant stay and if we come to your Area again we will book your Hotel again , it made the Weekend more joyus .

Perfect in all respects could not fault it

I have stayed here several times. Always comfortable and the most fantastic breakfast! Love the attention to detail in providing good quality tea, biscuits, toiletries and delicious quality food.

My room was small but comfortable with an excellent daily cleaning service. The food in the restaurant was top class; staff were friendly and helpful. TV in the room only had options for radio!

The lady who owned the hotel greeted us with such a lovely friendly face. When we was sat outside having a drink I started talking to her by my choice and she took her time to chat and was so down to earth. The hotel was spotless. Great price and lovely food for breakfast. Even staff in the morning went above and beyond to then take our plates and put in boxes as our lift arrived to go home.All around perfect

We had a fantastic time, the cottage is lovely, has everything you need and is in a great location, the staff looked after us and were always on hand very welcoming. We had evening meals at the hotel which is a must highly recommend the food is excellent. We look forward to August when we are staying again .

Was pleasantly surprised at the size of the cottage we stayed in, had everything you would need. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Would detstay here again.

Great dinner very good staff all round great stay.

We stayed in the Cottage and found everything to our satisfaction. Despite fronting onto the main street the noise from traffic was not intrusive.The washing and drying facilities proved particularly useful.

Comfortable clean rooms with all the facilities you need on a business trip.Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant can only be described as wonderful.Never a bad stay in 20 years

I loved this place!Close to so many things.Plenty of on site parking and a very nice hotel bar/restaurant.We are planning our return trip for the fall.

Really enjoyable stay. Located opposite wordsworth house and in the high street, but quiet. Breakfast was excellent and the dinner menu very good value. Room was clean. Single room I had was at the top of the hotel with a velux window. That was ok for me.

A few weeks has passed now since myself and granddaughter stayed here and now I've had time to reflect I can now put forward a my review, this is obviously based on my opinion and as such should be treated as such.The first thing that you'll notice is the attention to detail within the property. It is impeccably clean. There was not a speck of dust or dirt and nothing out of place.Top marks to the housekeeping team,well done.The staff, well the person I guess who is the manager was polite, informative, helpful and expert in his roll which appeared to be everything from reception, bar and waiter, certainly multi talented and a credit to the hotel. The rest of the waiting and bar staff were polite and efficient in their roles.Talking of talented the next thing that struck me was the quality of the food, the food was superb and well presented and I would come here again just for dinner.I would definitely come back and would recommend it to my friends and family. If you are reading this prior to booking, I don't think you'll regret coming here.

My adult son and I stayed on Saturday evening and we were incredibly impressed with the very friendly staff and their extremely positive attitude towards customer service. The accommodation was much better than we expected and the breakfast was absolutely lovely. I would definitely stay there again and would certainly recommend.

Just had 5 nights at The Manor House. A perfect location in the centre of Cockermouth so very convenient for local buses and access to walks along the River Derwent and opposite Wordsworth House.The staff in the hotel were very kind when we had to change our booking and made everything easy. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice and the evening meal set menu very good. There was plenty of parking which is good for a town centre location.We would certainly stay again.

We spent a couple of nights here for a birthday getaway. The hotel is in a great location, near Wordsworth's house and the town.Our quiet spacious room even had a bath, shower and soap bottles provided, 2 packets biscuits with teas/coffees sachets. Loved the generous 2 butter packs with breakfast. Caine was on the bar and front desk and couldn't have been more helpful- also makes a mean cocktail! Great stay, definitely recommend.

We stayed for two nights. We ate in thevtstsurant both nights and I have to say that the food was some of the best of any hotel we have stayed in. This applies to the breakfast as well. We stayed here only for one night with our children.We had lovely very spacious rooms, and the staff were lovely.Very friendly with fantastic service.Breakfast was very good; big chunky sausages, lovely thick bacon, all served very attentively and hot plates, just as it should be.Really enjoyed the stay and service, shame we only had chance to stay the one night.

I work away from home regularly in my job, both in the UK and overseas; as a female travelling alone The Manor House is only the second hotel I’ve ever stayed in where I haven’t felt even slightly uncomfortable in the dining room, usually opting for room service. I stayed here for 2 nights 7th-9th May on business; this was my first visit and will definitely NOT be my last - I’ve already booked for the end of May.I had a single room on the second floor which was very quiet. The accommodation was spotlessly clean with tea/coffee making facilities; hairdryer and toiletries provided; fan, extra pillow and patchwork quilt available in the built-in wardrobe if needed; ironing board and iron available on request. The food was delicious and easily the best I’ve ever been served in a hotel; all freshly prepared, piping hot and immaculately served. My only regret was that I couldn’t manage a dessert after dinner on either night! Cold buffet breakfast with selection of cereals, fruits, yogurt etc plus various cooked options and achoice of white or brown toast served to the table in a toast rack - no hanging around a toaster waiting to take your turn and then taking somebody else’s by mistake! The Management team was lovely, staff were attentive but not pushy. If The Manor House was in my home town it would definitely be our family go-to for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.

We had a a pleasant stay and would happily book again. Everyone was friendly and helpful. In the spirit of continuing improvement, it would have been nice to have comfy chairs in the room and rather than a bowel of whole fruit a fruit salad and muesli would have improved our very pleasant breakfast.Overall a very nice hotel.

We had a lovely stay at The Manor House Hotel. We were only staying for one night and we arrived a bit late after check-in. The lady who helped us, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, was very kind and understanding that we had gone past check-in time. She also gave us some lovely recommendations of things to do in Cockermouth. The room was clean and comfortable and the shower was fabulous. The biscuits in the room were a welcome sight after a long drive. Thank you!

We traveled to Cockermouth for a family funeral stayed two days in this so comfortable hotel with excellent cuisine and lovely room ,very friendly staff and the added bonus of car parking almost in the centre of town.What’s not to like thank you

Lovely Hotel with very friendly and professional staff.Very clean and had a nice atmosphere on first entry.I was a lady travelling alone for a 60th birthday, felt comfortable throughout my stay.Only 1 negative, which I can't see how the hotel can change, I was in room 14 which was the attic room, this was very hot, (the weather was hot at the time) although there was a fan in the room it did not seem to be very efficient.Over all, would definitely stay again, but would ask for a different room.

I genuinely cannot fault our experience at The Manor House Hotel. We decided to stay in Cockermouth overnight as we were attending a friend’s wedding.We booked in at the Manor House directly.Room was full of character, as was the rest of the hotel. Clean rooms. Stayed here 2 nights to attend a wedding in the area. The Manor House is in a great location on the Main Street and all the staff were welcoming and friendly. The room, whilst being small was perfectly adequate and comfortable and was very clean, in fact the whole hotel was spotless. Cockermouth is the ideal location to explore the Lake District and has abundance of shops, cafes, bars and restaurant. We will definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for two nights & needed to get out of ‘the rat race’ and relax. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the room was lovely, clean, with tea, coffee & bottles of water. We ate in the restaurant one night & the food was amazing quality, fabulous flavours, hubby said it was the best lamb he’s ever tasted.There is a varied choice for breakfast, fruit, yogurt, cereal and a choice of cooked items. I would definitely recommend staying here and plan on returning ourselves. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Firstly the hotel has a good parking. The features of the hotel combine new and old elegantly. My room was a small double with en-suite and having all the amenities any one would need. The icing on the cake was the excellent evening meal I had. Will visit again

The manor house has the best food in the Cockermouth area. Ed the chief to Carol Ann and Caine and staff our all wonderful people and the atmosphere is relaxed and whatever you need they have and will accommodate your needs.Great drinks and food and atmosphere nobody does it better.

We arrived early intending to park up and then go into the town. We were warmly greeted and given the option to check in straight away. Our room was on the top floor but the wide staircase made access very easy. Everything was spotless and a pleasure to return to after a trip around the town. Breakfast was excellent, beautifully presented and superb quality. The friendliness of all the staff made for a wonderful visit and we’d highly recommend the hotel.

Difficult circumstances as chef and husband of manager in hospital but everything carried on as usual. The standard was as usual high. Clean well equipped rooms , helpful staff and characterful building.

Only there 1 night as we were in Cockermouth for a friends birthday.The hotel was lovely and cosy. Super comfy bed and the room was nice and warm.We had booked with cooked breakfast but unfortunately the chef was in hospital so we had continental instead which was really nice with plenty variety,we enjoyed it.Our host was such a lovely person and made us very welcome,it was a pleasure and we wish her husband a speedy recovery. We travelled from Macclesfield (stopping at Sedburgh en route).Booked in and we were allocated room 1.Friendly welcome.Very clean and comfortable.Good location for visiting the area-including Wordsworth monument & the Castle/River.Variety of interesting shops ,pubs & restaurants.We went to Macclesfield FC v Workington on Saturday - easy to travel to.Breakfasts nicely done.The stained glass dome at the top of the stairs for the first floor is beautiful.Recycling policy (I always have that).Would be good to have a clear statement (ps use of cling film).Double glazing needs a bit of attention in room 1-didn't want to open the windows for fresh air.*Although the rating = "good", our stay was better than a normal "good".*Thank you.We went to

A party of 8 of us visited to celebrate my 80th birthday. We had a great time enjoying a very good dinner in the restaurant, followed by a good nights sleep far my wife and I. Clean,comfortable, friendly and well managed. They seem to have thought of everything - even providing a birthday surprise in our bedroom.Only suggestion we would make is perhaps better colour co-ordination is needed in bedroom No2. But thoroughly enjoyed our stay and good value for money.

On arrival we were met by a lovely lady at reception and given our room card. The decor and furnishings were perfect for the architecture of the building. After a few hours in the town we came back for drinks and hosted by a polite and well turned out barman before retiring to our room which was spot on for an overnight stay. We freshened up in the modern bathroom and enjoyed a comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was exceptional and full of variety. The two ladies who waited on us were also exceptional. I am always happy to point out flaws when giving reviews but on this occasion it's a massive 10/10

We’ve just returned from a short stay in Cockermouth. I booked The Manor House Hotel based on previous reviews. The welcoming was cheerful and informative. We loved the beautiful staircase. The public areas and the bedrooms are dated in decoration but our room was very comfortable and quiet. The bed was comfortable too. In the morning we had a good quality breakfast, with perfectly poached eggs. Oh…. Don’t miss the Derwent Pencil Museum in Keswick!
